This makes it one of the most attractive staycation spots in the country where people can enjoy rolling green countryside, numerous hiking trails and National Trust locations in the area.

Only English countryside classics The Cotswolds, as well as both the New Forest and Lake District National Parks performed better than the Peaks in the research.

Research carried out by Defender indicates the Peak District is the fourth best upmarket staycation destination in Great Britain.

Defender’s research led them to create a data-led index determining the best remote destinations in Great Britain mapping a location’s population to its number of highly rated amenities.

By analysing the number of five-star hotels, Michelin Guide restaurants, five-star golf clubs, luxury spa and wellness centres, excellent hiking trails and National Trust locations in each area, these resulting destinations defined the best remote destinations for luxury travel amenities across England, Scotland and Wales.
