Wetherspoon pub’s future hangs in balance - Derby city centre pub ‘available for sub-let immediately’
The Babington Arms in Derby city centre is available for sub-let, raising questions about its future.
A JD Wetherspoon pub in Derby city centre - one of two prominent Derby sites is available for sub-let immediately.
The Babington Arms on Babington Lane, Derby is advertised on Rightmove as a pub to lease, available by way of a new sub-lease.
This pub’s site was once a 17th-century mansion home to the Babington family. It opened its doors in 1997 and has been a key staple of Derby pub life since.

The two storey terrace building boasts trading accommodation on the ground floor with a bar servery to the rear, along with a trade kitchen alongside a managers office and small storage facilities.
On the first floor a customer toilet is located alongside a large plant room and staff room. The cellar is situated on the first floor adjacent to access to the service yard and small goods lift used for deliveries.
The property is being marketed by CBRE Ltd who told DerbyWorld: ‘The pub is available to be sub-let immediately’.
DerbyWorld has contacted JD Wetherspoon for comment.
