'Stunning' outdoor swimming pool in Derbyshire crowned UK’s most scenic with views over the Peak District

Hathersage Swimming Pool in Derbyshire has been named the UK's most scenic, offering breathtaking views of the Peak District.

With temperatures in Derbyshire set to climb higher than 30C over the coming days, it’s safe to assume that many of us will be scrambling for ways to keep cool.

Taking a dip in a lake or other body of water is one way to cool off, but the dangers of entering open water are well-documented and certainly not the safest way to enjoy the fine weather.

Opting for a swimming pool is a much more sensible way to spend a hot summer day, with lifeguards on-hand to ensure that everyone enjoys the water safely.

Hathersage Swimming Pool, Derbyshire

Nestled in the heart of the Peak District, Hathersage Swimming Pool has been dubbed the UK’s most scenic swimming pool, and it’s easy to understand why.

Swimmers enjoy breathtaking views of rolling hills and traditional stone cottages, which goes some way to justifying the reasonable £8 entry fee.

The large pool - 100ft x 33ft to be exact - was opened in 1936 and has gone on to become one of the most popular places for an outdoor dip in the Peak District.

The pool is heated to around 26C each day, so you won’t have to worry about acclimatisation.

You won’t be surprised to learn that the pool gets very busy during spells of hot weather, so booking online is advised.

At the time of writing there are just a few slots available for the coming weekend, so be quick if a trip to Hathersage takes your fancy!
