A unique venture from a popular Derbyshire baker has seen crowds queue in the baking sunshine this weekend.
Derbyshire’s first-ever scone trailer also known as The Scone Factory hitched up a retro-themed mobile trailer at Electric Daisy in Derby city centre on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
Foodies in Derby did not disappoint, who turned out in force to buy a variety of baked treats including loaded scones and cookies.
The Scone Factory is the brainchild of Molly from VE Bakes selling bespoke vegan bakes.
Speaking to DerbyWorld Molly said: “It was an overwhelming turnout, we had a queue the whole time which was amazing.
“People said they were happy to queue as they were so proud to see I was busy.
“We sold out in 90 minutes.
“My Ve-Bakes customers are so supportive and it blew me away.
“It was so fulfilling to see people enjoying my scones it’s even better than I could have ever imagined it to be.”

People started queuing from midday for some scone goodness. The baking hot temperatures - the temperatures hit 30° yesterday - weren't enough to keep scone fans away. | Ria Ghei

I had Raspberry Sunrise loaded scone. It was a generous portion piled with fresh fruit. The zingy notes went really well with Alpacalypse Beer, a session IPA by Salt Beer Factory. | Ria Ghei
