We love a good mash-up, from cronuts to cruffins, because being playful with food and pushing boundaries often means the creation of something beautiful.

The latest item on the food block is a garlic bread burger from Nando’s.

It is one of those items that is quite frankly genius, and leaves you wondering, why hasn’t it been brought to market sooner?

We visited Nando’s in Derby to try out their new Garlic Churrasco Burger.

It may look like an average burger but be prepared to have your socks blown off.

The garlic bread bun had the perfect texture, soft, but with a slight chew.

But it was the flavour of the bread that really made me wish it would last forever.

Two flame-grilled chicken thighs provided succulent bites, whilst Churrasco Peri-naise sauce added a peppery punch.

Nando’s take on the Churrasco sauce - similar to herby chimichurri - was less green, more peach thanks to paprika and tomato notes.

Pickled red onions brought tang to the dish, but the key ingredient, that gloriously garlicky bread bun, was the star component.

Other new items are PERi-Mac & Cheese, Pastel de Nata, or Chocolate Pudding, which I have my eye on for next time.

I have dined at Nando’s twice in my life, but that number is about to go through the roof, thanks to their Garlic Churrasco burger.

There is much to like at Nando’s.

The Bottomless soft drink option is a nice touch, especially since I spent a chunk of the afternoon there writing.

The food was lush, the service was welcoming, and I think I have just found my next place where I can work remotely for a few hours and grab some food at the same time.
