Whisky fans can unite at Seven Hills Whisky Festival, where a full day will be dedicated to all things whisky.

Named after the seven hills that Sheffield is said to be built on, the debut Seven Hills Whisky Festival will take place at The Steamworks, in Sheffield, one hour away from Derby.

People can sample over 200 whiskies at the festival that celebrates the rich heritage of whisky-making, making it the perfect day out for seasoned whisky connoisseurs or those just starting out on their whisky journey.

Who knows, you could even discover your new favourite whisky on the day? 

It also gives you a chance to chat to fellow whisky enthusiasts as you browse stalls from distilleries including Glenallechie, Glen Moray, Spirit of Yorkshire, Bladnoch and more.

Enhancing your knowledge of one of the world’s most celebrated spirits also means you’ll be well prepared for the festive season. You could be the host with the most and even throw your own whisky tasting at home, armed with the knowledge you learn at Seven Hills Whisky Festival!

What happens on the day

You’ll be given a Glen Cairn whisky glass and then have the chance to visit over 200 stalls as you embark on your whisky tasting journey.

You can even take your whisky glass home at the end of the day as a fun memento.

Your ticket includes one ‘Dream Dram' token allowing you to sample a super premium dram of whisky, which would usually retail from £200 upwards.

Additional Dream Dram tokens will be available to buy on the day.

Sipping whisky can be hungry business, and there are plenty of street food stalls to keep you full.

Take a seat at the Whisky Highball Bar to rest your legs as you sip cocktails, while listening to live music from DJs spinning tunes from across the decades. 

Artisan chocolatier Bullion is the official partner of the festival.

It has curated a very special chocolate and whisky pairing for the event.

This is set to be a real treat for fans of chocolate who want to indulge in a food and drink pairing experience with a twist.

Travel

Sheffield has good transport links across the country, serving Derby, the wider East Midlands and beyond.

East Midlands Railway offers discounted travel when tickets, with a specified date and time, are booked in advance.

When DerbyWorld checked (Tuesday August 6) the East Midlands Railway website, a day trip from Derby to Sheffield with set times cost £10.90. 

An open day return from Derby to Sheffield cost £14.60, making it £3.70 cheaper when a ticket is booked in advance.

Planning in advance could therefore be a money savvy option to get to the whisky festival.
