Venues across the city including QUAD, Derby Theatre and Deda will host the festival’s events.

The occasion aims to inspire new and old readers to appreciate the power of books and celebrate the creative history of Derby.

Sian Hoyle, director of Derby Book Festival, said: "Derby Book Festival is now a well-established and eagerly awaited event in Derby’s arts calendar.

“There’s something for everyone whatever your age and interest – from Concorde to cookery, gardening to ghosts, seaside to singing."

Derby Book Festival was launched in 2015 by book lovers Sian Hoyle and Jenny Denton after key arts organisations in the city backed the idea and local businesswoman Liz Fothergill CBE became the event's chair.

An enthusiastic team of volunteers, local sponsors and donations keep the festival going each year.
