Birds Bakery at Park Farm Store in Allestree, Derby welcomed hungry customers back after a two-week break.

It is the second Birds location across the East Midlands to get a refresh.

The new branding which was unveiled at Birds’ Ashby-de-la-Zouch store ties in with the bakery’s ‘Fresh as a Daisy' ethos.

The design features a vibrant spring green and warm grey colour scheme, complemented by a modernised logo with a nod to the brand’s history.

Sue Allen, a customer from Belper, sat in the café area sipping a coffee and enjoying cake.

Speaking about the new colour scheme, Sue said: “It is brilliant, it’s nice to have new colours. It is fresh and clean and lovely.”

Although Sue is a fan of “All the Birds’ cream cakes” she was particularly partial to the Elephant’s Foot choux bun.

Savoury food is also a big draw for customers who enjoyed Birds sausage roll and cheese scones.

At the time of arrival at 10am, the queue was 12 people deep, which stayed steady all morning.

Mark from Derby had travelled in from the city centre to see the new colour scheme.

He said: “I came in from the city, as I haven’t seen the new colours in Derby yet.

“It’s definitely more modern, I think the colours are rather lovely.”

Another Birds fan from Allestree is Angie.

She said: “I’d heard about the new colours, so I thought I’d pop in to have a look.

“I love the pale greens, it feels artisan and really upmarket.”

In addition to the updated aesthetic, the Park Farm store refurbishment will introduce a charming farmhouse-style decor.

A main part of the redesign is a spacious farmhouse table topped with rustic crates and boxes, filled with sweet and savoury treats for customers to purchase.

Recognising Allestree as a popular destination for family outings and leisurely walks, with attractions like Darley Park and Markeaton Park nearby, the revamped store will also boasts a newly designed seating area.

There are also seats directly outside the store, which could be a nice space to enjoy sunshine when it gets a bit warmer.

There are three key areas of focus for Birds; Bakery, Butchers and Chocolatier.

Jamie Bird, strategy director at Birds Bakery is ‘really proud’ of the new look and feel of the Park Farm store.

He said: “The farmhouse style decor creates a welcoming feel and the extra  seating gives our customers even more ways to enjoy their new Birds store.

“We’ve heard from some of our loyal Allestree customers how excited they are to see the new store, with others speculating where the rebrand will pop up next - they’ll have to keep their eyes peeled!”

Allestree and Ashby-de-la-Zouch may be the lucky two that have been given a pretty makeover, however a glow-up is on the cards for all 61 stores in the coming months.
