Derby’s 200 Degrees Coffee Shop is on the hunt for a Sandwich Tester to enjoy sarnies and coffee for free

A Derby coffee shop’s unusual advert for ‘sandwich enthusiast’ is attracting hundreds of applications from across the country.

200 Degrees Coffee which has 18 coffee shops nationwide including Derby, is on the hunt for fans of the bready treat.

Posting on social media where they have over 45,000 followers, 200 Degrees Coffee wrote: ‘Listen up, sandwich enthusiasts!

‘We have an amazing opportunity to join the 200 Degrees Family (well, for one day only).

‘We're unleashing our brand-spanking-new menu and are now searching for an exceptional human to join the team as our Sandwich Tester.’

The Instagram post already has hundreds of likes and 165 comments.

The coffee brand is seeking someone who has a ‘passion’ for sandwiches.

To apply, comment on the Instagram post with the reason why you are perfect for the role.

No previous experience is required, so don’t worry if you haven’t had experience of being a food taster.

The advert does say you do need to have the ability to consume a large amount of bread, be happy to travel to a 200 Degrees Coffee Shop, give feedback on the sandwiches and be happy being photographed by the brand.

Applications close at midnight on Saturday August 12, 2023.

The one-day sandwich tester offer is the brainchild of marketing executive Lizzy Kirk, who takes full credit for the idea.

She said: “I am always looking for fun ways to share our new products and get our customers involved.”

Another spokesperson for the brand added: “We love engaging with our customers on social media, and this felt like a really fun way to do it.

“And who wouldn’t love the chance to come and eat a load of sandwiches for free?”

The newly expanded and improved sandwich collection that was recently unveiled on the coffee brand’s blog, is what the sandwich tester will be working their way through.

Scrumptious sandwiches that the sandwich tester could be sampling includes cheese and tomato toastie on new malted bloomer bread, a new Ploughman’s, a tuna mayo baguette and a BrieLT to add to the line-up.

There is something for meat lovers too who can enjoy two new salami offerings of zingy salami and pickle toastie, and a salami and mozzarella sandwich on seeded sourdough.
