Derby stabbing: Restaurant owner named locally as man killed in city centre
A Derby restaurant owner has been named locally as the victim in a fatal stabbing in Derby city centre.
Gurvinder Singh Johal, who friends knew as Danny, owned local restaurant Hen and Chickens Bar and Grill restaurant in Shelton Lock.

Police officers were called to Lloyds bank on St Peters St at approximately 2.35pm yesterday (Tuesday, May 6, 2025) following reports of an injured male. An air ambulance also arrived.
Mr Johal, in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following raids across the city, Derbyshire Police arrested a male in his 40s on suspicion of murder at a Normanton house approximately four hours later.
A second man, understood to be in his 30s, was also arrested at the same property on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Derbyshire Police confirmed both men were in custody last night.
