It wasn’t the most positive start to the month for Paul Warne’s side as Derby County were defeated by Sheffield United today (Saturday, February 1, 2025).
The Rams played host to The Blades at Pride Park Stadium in the Sky Bet Championship that saw a goalless first half.
Derby gaffer made the first change of the game at half-time, replacing Ryan Nyambe for Marcus Harness.
Shortly after play resumed in the second-half, Ben Brereton Diaz ultimately handed Sheffield United a win.
Despite Derby having several chances to strike home, opportunities were missed.
Speaking to Rams TV in a post-match interview, Derby County’s Matt Clarke summed up the match as being a ‘frustrating and disappointing day’.
Paul Warne also appeared dejected, saying he was “disappointed” to lose the game.
He added: “We’re losing by one goal, not four or five. We had a really good chance to score but we’re in that form at the moment where we don’t take our chances. But the best teams take chances and that’s what’s happened today.”
Ben Brereton Diaz’s goal in the 49th minute handed Sheffield United a victory at the match that was attended by 29,472 fans (3,117 Sheffield United supporters).
