What is a dispersal order?

Dispersal orders mean local officers have the power to ask a group of two or more people to leave the dispersal area if they are committing anti-social behaviour, or if officers believe they may, or are likely to, cause a nuisance to someone else.

Anybody committing an offence who refuses this order can be arrested and fined up to £2,500 and/or receive a three-month prison sentence.

Planned protests have affected a local business in the city.

Quad Derby on Market Place closed early citing ‘potential disruption’ and took steps to ‘ensure safety of staff and customers.’

DerbyWorld will update this article with more information should other city centre businesses close early today.
