Pets at Home is touring the UK with its new doggy ice cream van - and the next stop is Derby

Summer holidays should be a fun time for all the family, including your furry four-legged friends.

As part of a UK tour, Pets at Home will be visiting Derby and setting tails wagging with a new doggy ice cream van stocked full of free frozen delights for pooches.

The van will be parked up at the beach area at the Derby Dog Lovers Festival at Elvaston Castle Showground from 11am until 4pm this Saturday.

Dog owners will be able to pick up a free dog-friendly Frozzys frozen yoghurt for their furry friends as well as take advantage of a water station to keep pets hydrated after a fun walk around the grounds.

It is more than just a fun day out as Pets at Home will be educating animal owners too.

Experts will be on hand to share tips about keeping pets safe and cool in the summer and answering any other questions about animal upkeep as well.

The website describes it as a "fantastic event for you and your best fur friend" and is thought to be a hit for those who want to go to a music festival but don’t want to leave their dogs behind.

There are numerous activities planned over the course of the weekend including fun dog shows.

The main arena will see a variety of shows for humans too.

More details of the festival can be found here.
