Derby Hippodrome, one of the city’s former theatres, is now being demolished after sustaining extensive damage.
Derby City Council announced it has utilised emergency planning powers to dispatch contractors to deal with the Hippodrome on Green Lane in the city.
Demolition work follows a fire that broke out on Friday, May 16, 2025 where firefighters were called to the scene.
A spokesperson for Derby City Council said following concerns about the property’s safety, it had ordered demolition.
