Jimmy Carr: His Dark Material (18+) was the UK’s most streamed Netflix comedy special of 2021.

Now, the comedian and presenter promises to show his fans brand new - and dark - material in his Terribly Funny 2.0 tour.

So, here is everything you need to know about Jimmy Carr and his upcoming trip to Derby Arena.

Who is Jimmy Carr?

Jimmy Carr began his comedy career in 1997 and is now known for his deadpan delivery of controversial one-liners and his distinctive laugh.

He is also a television presenter and has previously hosted Channel 4’s 8 Out of 10 Cats, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and The Big Fat Quiz of the Year.

He performs stand-up tours throughout most of the year, taking only five weeks off between them. Terribly Funny 2.0 is his 12th UK tour, having started with the Charm Offensive tour in 2003.

He has won five LAFTA awards, as well as a Time Out award for Best Stand Up (2002) and a British Comedy Award for Best Live Stand Up (2006).

His comedy involves dark humour and usually revolves around celebrities, current events, politics and sex.

The Derby Arena website warns fans: “Jimmy’s show contains jokes about all kinds of terrible things.  Terrible things that might have affected you or people you know and love. But they’re just jokes - they are not the terrible things.

“Having political correctness at a comedy show is like having health and safety at a rodeo.. Now you’ve been warned, buy a ticket.”

When is Jimmy Carr in Derby?

Jimmy Carr will take to the stage of Derby Arena on Sunday 21 May 2023.

The show will start at 8pm and last approximately two hours, including an interval.

How can I get tickets to Jimmy Carr’s Terribly Funny 2.0 tour?

Tickets are currently available to purchase on Ticketmaster and the Derby Arena website, however there is already limited availability.
