The yellow warning will be in place from 3am tomorrow until 4pm with concerns growing that further rainfall could lead to additional flooding.

Flood warnings are already in place across the county following savage downpours as a result of Storm Babet this weekend. Areas most at risk are Swarkestone, including Swarkestone Access Frontage, Stanton by Bridge, and Kings Newton.

What to expect from a yellow weather warning:

  • Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services
  • There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
  • There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life
  • There is a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads
