The well-known chain is set to open a new site at the city’s Meteor Retail Park after Derby City Council approved a planning application earlier this year.
The new restaurant will be in a unit subdivided with a new Starbucks shop, increasing the retail park’s food and drink outlets and joining KFC, Costa, and McDonald’s.

There are two other Nando’s restaurants in Derby – one on the Market Place and the other is inside the Derbion shopping centre. These both open from 11.30am.
However, according to licensing documents on Derby City Council’s website, there are plans for the new restaurant to open at 7am and serve breakfast dishes.
A statement in a licensing application form said: “The applicant is an experienced operator of a chain of nationwide South African/Portuguese Chicken restaurants offering dine in and takeaway/delivery. The applicant’s business is family orientated and very much food based with alcohol making up only a very small part of the business.

Its planned opening hours are stated between 7am and 12.30am Monday to Sunday. The chain is planning to serve alcohol daily from 11am until midnight.
Earlier this year Derby City Council approved a planning application for the former Topps Tiles unit to be converted into a new subdivided space shared by Nando’s and Starbucks. Nando’s wants its third Derby premises to be of “high quality design” and to also offer guests an “intimate” outdoor dining experience.
Nando’s says in the licensing document that the outside seating area will be monitored by staff and regularly cleared of bottles and glasses and use of this area for dining “shall cease at 2300 hours (11pm) daily”.

Hide AdDerby City Council’s approval to the planning application in April stated: “Overall, the development would create a more prominent entrance area in addition to an external seating area to the front of the units, which contextually would be acceptable. In design terms, the proposed changes would positively contribute towards the character and composition of the Meteor Retail Park.”
