Revolution Bar Derby has closed with immediate effect, shutting its doors at The Strand location in the heart of the city centre.

It comes after its parent company announced it would be closing eight sites which are reported to be the bar operator's least profitable locations.

A sign on the door thanked customers for 'laughs, memories, and vodka shots' as the bar had 'shaken their last cocktails' and 'closed for good.'

Although the message on the venue's door was short at just 20 words, the company wrote a much longer post which it shared across its social media sites.

The area of the city is currently undergoing redevelopment and roadworks. It is unclear at this moment what will happen to the building.

Its prime location situated on the corner of The Strand is expected to stir considerable interest to potential business leaders.

Derby people react to Revolution Bar's closure in city

Revolution Derby's closure was a shock to many, who shared their feelings in response to the bar's closing message.

One former Revolution Derby DJ said: 'That’s so sad, I’ve had some fantastic nights DJing here. It’s a shame it’s gone.'

Another unhappy bar goer said: 'OMG end of an era' whilst another said: 'That's sad had many good afternoon/evenings out here when I lived in the UK. Even had my UK leaving drinks.'

The outpouring of sadness shows Revolution Derby will be missed. One fan of the bar's cocktails and food said: 'That's really sad. I've had some great nights there and some fabulous brunches. You'll be missed.'

Another shocked bar goer said: 'Many good memories here! Sad sad times.'

The bar's safety is thought to be a draw for some, as one disheartened punter wrote: 'Oh no, I love the staff there. It's a safe place for me to go.'

The staff made a big impact on people's lives, as another upset bar goer wrote: 'Literally gutted for all the staff, they are all lovely, such a shame.'
