Overcast weather consisting of grey skies broken up by spells of sunshine is what people can expect over the coming days

The weather may feel a little unsettled in Derby, which is not something you may want to hear especially as we head towards a nice long bank holiday Easter weekend.

According to Met Office, the outlook for this week is windy, becoming drier and brighter as early cloud and rain clears up.

Today (Wednesday, April 16, 2025), cloud and rain will continue to ease and gradually clear northwards.

Some sunny spells are set to develop into the afternoon. It will feel windy and locally gusty at times. A maximum temperature of 13 ° means it could feel cool in the wind.

Tonight:

The day is set to end on a fine note with some evening sunshine.

It will stay dry with some lengthy clear spells overnight.

Although it will feel cooler than the previous night, winds will gradually ease with a minimum temperature of 2 °.

Those venturing out will feel a chilly start. The cold dawn will give way to a mostly fine and dry day, with some decent spells of sunshine for many.

It will feel pleasant in the sunshine, with light winds and a maximum temperature of 16 °.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Friday and Saturday are expected to be largely fine and dry, with bright or sunny spells and light winds.

Easter Sunday is set to be grey and overcast with the possibility of light, patchy rain.

Mainly unsettled conditions are likely across Derbyshire and the wider UK from Easter Monday (April 21).

Showers or longer spells of rain are probable across many regions, heavy at times perhaps accompanied by strong winds.

Some drier and brighter interludes are also likely at times, but probably with large amounts of cloud.

Temperatures will generally be near average, although unsettled weather is set to continue into the following week commencing April 28.
