Derbyshire weather: The exact days Derbyshire will experience cold snap in the run-up to Christmas
The latest forecast predicts a cold snap with sub-zero temperatures just days before Christmas.
Derbyshire is set to experience a cold snap in the lead-up to Christmas, according to a new forecast.
AccuWeather’s latest long-range forecast suggests Derbyshire will brace for five days of sub-zero temperatures between Tuesday, December 16 and Sunday, December 20.
The Met Office’s long-range forecast, which covers the period between Saturday, December 6, to Tuesday, December 30, says: “There is likely to be a continuation of the unsettled conditions seen for much of the week with further showers or some longer spells of rain affecting much of the country.

“On Saturday (December 6) a frontal zone is expected to move east and this could bring a spell of locally heavy rain, particularly on hills exposed to the strong southerly winds.
“Behind this it will turn brighter but with showers, some of which could be heavy and thundery.
“It is possible we could then see yet more locally heavy rain move across most areas on Monday.
“Generally temperatures will be close to average, but it will likely feel quite chilly in the often wet and breezy conditions.
From December 16 - 30 the Met Office says: “There is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more dry weather compared to the unsettled patterns we are likely to see through the first couple of weeks of December.
“This also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost. There will probably still be some spells of rain, showers, and stronger winds though, especially in the west.
“Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north.
“Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.”
