Extinction Rebellion to host a monthly climate cafe in Derby with free hot drinks and lively conversations
It is a quiet space where people can pop in for a hot drink, away from the crowds in the bustling city centre
A café that aims to create a safe space where people can talk about climate, holistic lifestyle, farming and more and will take place every month in Derby city centre.

Climate Café, hosted by Extinction Rebellion Derby is a place where people can talk about the climate and ecological crisis and explore ways how they can help.
In addition to learning more about climate and biodiversity issues, people can share recipes and enjoy having a chat over free hot drinks.
Tricia Howlett from the Climate Café said: “We find it helps to lessen climate anxiety, as you can talk to people who are also upset and angry about the climate crisis.
“It gives me hope that others are working on solutions and I’ve felt more confident bringing up climate conversations with others outside the café since I’ve been attending it.
“We share recipes and talk about the climate, wellness and local activism among other things.
“We’ve enjoyed making banners for climate marches, ‘craftivism’ badges, and networking with local artists for campaigns nearby.

“People who just drop in on the day often bring different perspectives and lived experiences. I’ve met interesting people from very different walks of life to myself.
“It is a great place to take a break from the bustle outside in town on Saturday afternoons and share tasty plant-based food (mostly cake!) and good conversation with others.

“Thrivemind has a cosy second-hand bookshop and children’s art space which is a bonus!”
Climate Café will run from 12pm till 3pm, every third Saturday of the month, at Thrivemind Village community space.
The next event is on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
