Nottingham icons Vicky McClure and Jonny Owen have shared their four favourite places in the city.
From historic parks to buzzing music venues, the couple’s picks highlight the best of Notts.
For Line of Duty star Vicky, Wollaton Park is unbeatable. Whether it’s a peaceful walk or the unforgettable moment when Our Dementia Choir played to 20,000 at Splendour Festival, the place is packed with happy memories. “It’s beautiful all year round, especially in the snow,” she says.
She told NottinghamWorld: “Everyone knows Wollaton Park is my favourite place, whether its a quiet walk or Our Dementia Choir playing to 20,000 at Splendour Festival, it brings me nothing be happy times.”
Next up, Market Square, where Nottingham comes together. From celebrations to casual meet-ups at the Left Lion, it’s the city’s beating heart. And for Vicky, it’s extra special – she and Jonny tied the knot at the Council House.

Vicky, who was born and raised in the city, said: “The Market Square is the spot where the city comes together, to celebrate, to support one another and to meet your friends, at the Left Lion! Me and Jonny got married at the Council house, I loved pulling up on the Market Square with the sound of the beach around me. Notts in full swing!”
Her famous producer husband Jonny, meanwhile, gets that wow feeling every time he crosses Trent Bridge. “The river, the City Ground, the council offices – it’s one of the great walks to a football stadium,” he says. He also backs Vicky’s pick of Wollaton Park, where they got engaged.

“The grounds and Batman house are stunning, but it’s the history that makes it special – like the monument to the American airborne troops who stayed there before D-Day.”
And finally, Rock City. “Famous across the land, it’s been such an important cultural part of Nottingham,” Jonny says. The couple’s Day Fever events there bring a special kind of energy. “I always take mates from back home, and they love it. God bless Rock City!”

From historic landmarks to electric nights out, their picks prove one thing: Nottingham is a city with soul.
