New PetSaver memberships from Pet Drugs Online could help some households cut ongoing pet care costs
Pet owners are facing a growing list of repeat expenses right now — and it’s often the smaller ongoing costs that quietly add up fastest.
Alongside major vet bills, many households are now regularly paying for food subscriptions, flea and worming treatments, supplements, dental products, treats and delivery fees, especially when there’s more than one pet in the house.
That’s why the new PetSaver memberships launched by Pet Drugs Online immediately stood out to us — particularly because the retailer says some customers could save money across the year simply by grouping their regular pet spending into one membership plan.
Naturally, we wanted to see whether the maths actually stacks up.
The new PetSaver scheme is split into three membership levels aimed at different types of pet owners.
Bronze PetSaver is completely free and includes a 10% welcome discount alongside access to exclusive offers and expert advice.
PetSaver Silver costs £25 per year and includes:
• 15% off first orders • 2% off every order • Free standard delivery • 24/7 online vet consultations • Extra savings on Easy Repeat subscriptions • Monthly exclusive offers

PetSaver Gold costs £45 annually and increases the ongoing discount to 4% off every order, while also adding free priority next-day delivery and enhanced subscription savings.
At first glance, ongoing discounts of 2% or 4% may not sound especially eye-catching.
But once you start breaking down what many pet owners actually spend across a full year on pet essentials, the figures quickly become much more significant than people might expect.
A dog owner spending around £80 per month on repeat essentials would end up spending close to £1,000 over the course of a year.
Under the PetSaver Silver membership, the 2% ongoing discount alone could save almost £20 annually before free delivery, introductory discounts and monthly member offers are even taken into account.
The potential savings become even more noticeable for larger households or owners with multiple pets.
A family spending roughly £150 a month on pet food, grooming products, repeat treatments and subscriptions could comfortably exceed £1,800 a year in pet-related spending.
Under PetSaver Gold, the 4% ongoing saving would trim roughly £72 off that yearly total before factoring in delivery perks or subscription discounts.
For households already placing regular online pet care orders, that means the £45 annual fee could potentially pay for itself far quicker than expected.
Convenience also appears to be a major part of the appeal.
The Gold tier includes free priority next-day delivery, while both paid PetSaver memberships come with access to 24/7 online vet consultations through PawSquad for non-urgent advice and support.
Pet Drugs Online says the memberships were designed to help owners better manage the continuing cost of pet care at a time when many household budgets remain under pressure.
The retailer has been operating for more than 20 years and currently holds an “Exceptional” Feefo rating based on more than 209,000 reviews, with an average score of 4.8 stars.
And while whether PetSaver Silver or PetSaver Gold represents good value will depend entirely on how often someone shops online for pet essentials, our calculations suggest there are definitely situations where the savings could become genuinely worthwhile over the course of a year.

Plant-based ready meals have come a long way from the bland reputation they once had, and services such as Grubby are leaning into meals that look more like comforting weeknight dinners than traditional ‘healthy eating’ options.

Theme parks are increasingly shifting beyond rides alone, with short breaks, themed hotels and family attractions turning them into longer getaway experiences rather than simple day visits. Alton Towers seems to be leading the way.
