James Collins has been nominated for the EFL League One player of the month award, as well as the fans player of the month award.

Derby's only fit striking option at the moment, Collins has stepped up when the Rams have needed him, scoring five goals in six league games.

His season long tally is now at 13 making him the seventh top scorer in League One.

Many had written off Collins who found himself in the shadow of 20 goal David McGoldrick last season, however Collins is on track to finish with a similar goal tally to the Irishman.

With injuries to Tyreece John-Jules, Martyn Waghorn and Conor Washington, he will need to continue his good form if the Rams are to keep scoring.

Furthermore, Paul Warne wasn't able to sign a striker that he wanted during the transfer window which puts even more pressure on Collins to carry Derby's goalscoring threat.

The 33 year-old is no stranger to a good scoring season in League One; his best season was with Luton Town in 2018/19 when he scored 25 goals in 44 appearances.

A real breakout star for Derby this season, Collins' award nominations are thoroughly deserved.
