They are level with Bolton who are behind the Rams on goal difference, but have a game in hand. Barnsley are also just three points behind the Rams but have two games in hand.

Paul Warne's side will need to pick up a good chunk of points over the last 11 games if they are to finish in the top two and earn automatic promotion.

Over the last five full seasons in League One, the average points tally for automatic promotion has been 92 points.

Here are their last 11 games predicted, will the Rams go up?

Port Vale (H) - Win - 69 points

This weekend, the Rams face a struggling Port Vale side. It feels like the perfect get-right game for Derby who have lost two games in a row. But it feels as though they will pick up all three points here.

Bristol Rovers (A) - Draw - 70 points

Last season, Bristol Rovers away was one of the fixtures that arguably lost Derby a place in the playoffs as Paul Warne's side came away with just one point and it could go the same way this season. A tough away day for the Rams.

Reading (H) - Win - 73 points

A home date with Reading will give Derby a chance to rectify their loss to the Royals earlier in the season. It should be a winnable game for the Rams.

Bolton Wanderers (H) - Draw - 74 points

Arguably the biggest game left in the season for both sides. Derby and Bolton have both faltered as of late and so it could turn out to be somewhat of a disappointment after all the build up. A draw would be a fair result between these two.

Northampton Town (A) - Win - 77 points

Even though the Cobblers have picked themselves up from a poor start to the season. Derby's away form has been excellent and they should be able to pick up a win here.

Blackpool (H) - Draw - 78 points

Blackpool will provide a tough test for the Rams as a fellow promotion chasing side. They managed to beat third placed Bolton 4-1 last weekend. But a draw would also be a fair result here.

Portsmouth (A) - Loss - 78 points

At this point it would be tough to suggest that Portsmouth won't go up automatically. They have separated themselves from the rest of the pack and, going by that logic, are able to beat Derby at Fratton Park.

Wycombe (A) - Win - 81 points

Wycombe have always been a bit of a bogey team for Paul Warne. But they have not been good enough this season and going by Derby's away form, the Rams should be able to get the win.

Leyton Orient (H) - Win - 84 points

A suprise package, Orient have an outside chance of a playoff spot. However, the big occasion and bright lights at Pride Park could be too much for the visitors.

Cambridge United (A) - Win - 87 points

Cambridge United will be a team that Derby are expected to beat every time. They have lost three in a row and going by that form and the quality difference, Derby should win here.

Carlisle United (H) - Win - 90 points

Carlisle United are bottom of the table, they may not even have anything to play for come their trip to Pride Park. Derby should win this one.

A 90 point tally, going by the average, may not be enough for the Rams to go up automatically this season. Paul Warne's side may find themselves looking at a playoff route to the Championship, but in League One, anything could happen.
