Former Derby County goalkeeer signs for Championship rivals
Former Derby County goalkeeper Ben Hamer is set to sign for Championship rivals Sheffield Wedneday after his release from Watford.

Hide AdThe 36 year-old has played for a number of Championship and Premier League clubs in his career including Leicester, Nottingham Forest, Huddersfield Town and Swansea City.
He has spent the past two seasons at Watford and having made just 22 appearances in two seasons in more of a backup role, he is now seeking a new challenge with Wednesday.
Hamer spent one year with Derby where he made 27 appearances after originally joining as a backup to Kelle Roos the season after the Rams’ playoff final defeat to Aston Villa.

Hide AdHe eventually became the first choice keeper at Pride Park after impressing when he came in for his debut in November.
Hamer will now have the chance to face Derby as a Wednesday player, however it is more likely that Danny Rohl’s side have added him as a backup option.
Last season, Wednesday loanee James Beadle impressed in goal and the South Yorkshire side have been rumoured to bringing him back for the upcoming season.

Hide AdIf that is the case, the Hamer will have to sit on the bench and wait for his chance, much like he did at Derby in 2019.
Despite being in the later years of his footballing career, it seems that Hamer has no intention of slowing down anytime soon.
