With July coming to and end, here’s all the latest transfer news regarding Derby County’s rivals in League One

Former Derby County striker bid rejected

Former Rams striker Jack Marriott has reportedly drawn interest from Oxford United.

The Fleetwood Town striker has only been there since January but that hasn’t stopped the U’s from showing interest.

Teamtalk reported that Fleetwood rejected a bid estimated at around £400,000 for the striker.

He scored 8 goals in 19 appearances for Fleetwood last season.

Wigan star terminates contract

Wigan Athletic defensive midfielder Jack Whatmough terminated his contract with the Latics due to repeated contractual breaches under Wigan’s previous owners.

Whatmough, 26, is now a free agent and available for clubs to sign. He spent two seasons with Wigan making 89 appearances and scoring four goals.

Previous to this, Whatmough was with Portsmouth whom he played 136 games for.

He is no doubt one of the more valuable free agents in League One and has already attracted interest from Bristol City, QPR and Preston North End, according to Bristol World.

Reading face further transfer embargo

Derby’s League One rivals Reading have been placed under a transfer embargo as they failed to pay HMRC on time.

The Royals have been placed under the embargo by the EFL at the wrong time, according to the Reading Chronicle, manager Ruben Selles was hoping for 10 new signings this summer.

That progress has been significantly halted by the embargo and with less than a week and a half before the new season, it’s not ideal for the new boss.
