It doesn’t come as a suprise to many to see Eiran Cashin pick up yet another award in his young career. The 22 year-old has already won Derby’s young player of the season award a number of times and could be in line again this year.

Cashin has been one of the best defenders in League One this season making 42 appearances, scoring three goals and nine player of the match awards.

The Irishman was targeted by Premier League side Brighton in the summer after a deal was agreed on transfer deadline day.

However, as it did not pass before the deadline, he remained at Pride Park and has since extended his loyalty to the Rams by signing a new contract keeping him in Derby until the 2026/27 season.

Mendez-Laing has been one of the most entertaining players to watch in League One this season.

The Guatemalan international has had more goal involvements than any other player in the division by some distance.

He has scored eight goals and recorded 15 assists in the league over 44 appearances, making him one of the few players to play in every game this season.

The winger has been somewhat of a focal point to Derby County’s attacking play as he always seems to make something happen when he gets onto the ball.

A special player that has struggled to settle in at other clubs, Mendez-Laing seems to have found his home at Pride Park which gives a lot of credit to Paul Warne’s management of the 32 year-old.

A player of the season candidate for the Rams for sure.
