Derby County deadline day deal with Sheffield Wednesday winger fell through in last hours
Derby County almost landed a deadline day deal for Sheffield Wednesday winger Marvin Johnson
Sheffield Wednesday manager Xisco Munoz confirmed today that Derby County had a deal with winger Marvin Johnson fall through in the final hours of transfer deadline day.
The two clubs were coming to a possible loan agreement when the move was spiked.
It looks likely that Johnson could become a free agent as he may get released by Wednesday when they have to submit their 25 man squad list to the EFL which means the Rams could get to sign him for free.
Derby County were hoping for more additions to their squad after thier latest addition of Elliot Embleton on loan from Sunderland, however no deals were completed on deadline day.
32-year-old Johnson has made 95 appearances for the Owls after he joined back in August 2021. He’s scored six goals and contributed 23 assists.
The former Middlesborough man would’ve added some nice depth to the Rams squad alongside Nathaniel Mendez-Laing as a true winger.
