Derby County join Blackburn, Sunderland and Leeds United in race for League Two star

Derby County have been linked with a League Two star for a possible January transfer swoop

Derby County have reportedly joined the race for Wimbledon stand-out Ali Al-Hamadi and there has already been Championship interest.

Accoring to TeamTalk, the Rams are linked with the forward alongside Sunderland, Blackburn and Leeds United after the 21-year-old has been impressing in League Two.

Al-Hamadi has been drawing attention from clubs further up the leagues as he's been somewhat of a stand-out for the Dons in recent months.

The forward has scored four goals and recorded five assists in 14 games so far this season continuing his form from last year when he finished the season with 10 goals in 19 games.

The Iraqi can play across the front line either down the middle or on the wing which would be useful for Paul Warne to have an attacker with such versatility.

He came through the ranks at Swansea City in their youth setup before moving to Wycombe Wanderers in 2021. Al-Habadi then moved to Wimbleon for an undisclosed fee in January and looks like he could be on the move again this winter.

It is no surprise to see the Rams linked with a striker as they have been crying out for a replacement for David McGoldrick ever since he left for Notts County in the summer.

Paul Warne is expected to sign another striker in January and maybe Al-Hamadi could be such player. However, Wimbledon are reluctant to let him go for cheap meaning the Rams could get into a bidding war.

It will be difficult to bring the 21-year-old to League One when a number of Championship clubs are interested, but it certainly would bolster the Rams attack and could help them move up towards the promotion places.
