Derby County transfer target earns contract extension to increase price tag

Derby County transfer target Thierry Small’s contract has been extended by one year at Charlton Athletic.
The South London Press has reported that the Addicks have extended his contract to try and secure the 19 year-old left back for next season.

The left back has also attracted attention from Tottenham Hostpur who will be more likely to spend on him.
Derby are in need of another left back as the only one in the squad at the moment is Australian Callum Elder.
Paul Warne likes to play his full backs as a wing back, something that Small is built to do.

They have offered Small a long-term deal, but nothing has been confirmed yet and a possible move to either Derby or Spurs could tempt the youngster away from the Valley.
Charlton’s Technical Director said: “I’ve had a couple of conversations with his agents and we’ve made him a new offer, a long-term deal that he and his agents are considering.
“He’s still only 19. People forget because he’s had a little of attention from a very young age but he is still only 19 and learning. He has a lot of ability and potential which we’re confident our staff can get the most out of him.”
