Derby County missed a golden chance last night to extend their gap over promotion rivals Bolton to four points.
In a game against a frankly middle of the road Wycombe side, Paul Warne’s players struggled to create chance and when they did, really struggled to make the most of them.
The Rams didn’t record a single shot on target despite having over 50% of the ball. A very frustrating night for Derby who will now have to rely on Bolton slipping up if they are to finish second and earn automatic promotion.
With attackers struggling and defenders trying to create chances as best they could, the Rams players won’t want to read their ratings in a hurry.
1. Joe Wildsmith: 7/10
Joe Wildsmith earnt himself a clean sheet last night, but having said that, the Derby goalkeeper didn't have much to do in the first place. He made three relativley decent saves to earn the Rams a point, nothing wrong with that from Derby's number one.
2. Louie Sibley: 7/10
Louie Sibley was one of Derby's better players against Wycombe. The centre midfielder turned left back won the ball a number of times and tried to set the Rams off down the left hand side. Despite his efforts, they didn't record a single shot on target, but that was no fault of Sibley's.
3. Kane Wilson: 7/10
Much like Louie Sibley, Kane Wilson showed a lot of intent in trying to help the Rams get some form of attacking momentum going, however it didn't really materialise. The right back looked like the Kane Wilson that we have come to expect in his attacking desire, an unlucky evening for Wilson.
4. Curtis Nelson: 8/10
Curtis Nelson saw more of the ball than most last night as he won the most aerial balls, made a number of key passes and helped to control the possession as the Rams looked for their breakthrough. He also kept a clean sheet which at least helped Derby earn themselves a point.
