Elliot Embleton set for Sunderland return after injury woe in Derby County loan

Loanee Embleton is set to return to Sunderland due to his injury struggles

Elliot Embleton’s loan at Derby County looks set to end due to his injury struggles.

Sources indicate that Sunderland are likely to recall the midfielder after just under a month at Pride Park because of his problems with injury.

The 24-year-old midfielder joined the Rams on transfer deadline day and made just two appearances for Derby after coming on from the bench at home against Porstmouth and also against Lincoln City in the EFL Trophy.

The midfielder has made over 90 apperances for Sunderland scoring 11 goals and recording 10 assists.

He pulled his quad in training at Moor Farm after just recovering from an injury that he suffered last season at Sunderland.

This will leave the Rams with even less depth in midfield after they already have lost Conor Hourihane, Max Bird and Liam Thompson to injury.
