Paul Warne has seen a lot of his squad suffer from injury problems this season as the Rams have had a number of key players miss significant time.
They come off the back of arguably the most entertaining game of the season so far with a 2-2 draw away at league leaders Portsmouth.
Winger Joe Ward was the stand-out man in the match, scoring twice for the Rams and acting as a focal point for much of Derby’s attacking play. However, he could be in doubt for Wednesday’s clash against Wycombe Wanderers.
Ward isn’t the only name that Paul Warne could be without in tomorrow’s game too.
1. Joe Ward
Ward was the real star against Portsmouth last week as he netted twice, on both occasions giving the Rams a lead over the league leaders. He had to come off in the second half because of a knee issue and will be assessed ahead of Wednesday's game against Wycombe. Photo: Michael Regan
2. Max Bird
Bird has been out for over a month now, but it seems as though the talented midfielder is close to a return. He could be back for the Wycombe clash, but if he doesn't feature then the 23 year-old will likely return at the weekend against Leyton Orient. Photo: Shaun Botterill
3. Callum Elder
Defender Callum Elder's first season in black and white has been tarnished by a number of injuries throughout the year. He is currently facing a groin injury that he suffered against Bolton and is hoping for a return on Wednesday. However, much like Bird, he could be back at the weekend instead.
4. Dwight Gayle
A heartbreaking injury for Gayle hit after just his sixth game for the Rams. The former Stoke City striker had been in excellent form, but it is not all doom and gloom. Gayle should be back before the end of the season and so Paul Warne's side could have his goalscoring help for the last couple of games and for dare-say a playoff run should it be neccessary.
