Chris Martin made over 180 appearances for the Rams

Former Derby County striker Chris Martin will make a return to Pride Park this weekend as his Bristol Rovers side face the Rams.

Derby will be looking to come back from the international break with a win which could put them into the playoff places.

Meanwhile Bristol Rovers are only four points behind the Rams and will be looking to close the gap.

Martin joined Rovers in late September on a short-term deal after they failed to sign Peterborough striker Jonson Clarke-Harris.

The former Scottish international made 186 appearances for Derby over a seven year period between 2013 and 2020.

He became a real fan favourite and was one of the Championship's best goalscorers at his peak.

In the 2013/14 season, Martin scored 20 goals in 44 appearances and helped the Rams to the Championship playoff final by scoring a further two goals in the playoffs.

Unfortunatley, the Rams fell short, but it was just the start for Martin at Pride Park. He had three seasons with at least 15 goals before heading out on loan to Fulham in 2016.

Martin remained at Derby whilst on a further two loan spells with both Reading and Hull City and in 2020 he left and joined Bristol City.

He made almost 90 appearances for the Robins and now finds himself on the blue side of the city with Bristol Rovers.

This season, Martin has scored three times in seven games and will be desperate to get one over his former club on Saturday.

However, whatever the result, he will likely get a good reception from Pride Park on Saturday.
