League One interest ramps up on former Derby County transfer target
Derby County previously made bids for Smith in the summer transfer window
A number of League One clubs are showing interest in Sheffield Wednesday striker Michael Smith.
He was subject to both transfer and loan bids from Derby in summer and is now subject to more transfer speculation.
Sheffield Wednesday have recieved enquiries around the signing of Smith from League One clubs according to the Sheffield Star.
It isn't understood which clubs are the subject of these enquiries at the moment.
Smith has been dealing with an injury but has made appearances from the bench in Wednesday's last two matches
It is understood that the Owls have rejected the advances of the League One clubs' interest, so it seems that the striker won't be available as a target for the Rams.
Derby previously made bids for the former Rotherham United striker who played for Paul Warne, one of the reasons why the Rams were interested in landing the 32 year-old.
However, the Rams may no longer be interested in Smith as Warne has been vocal in his desire to sign younger players as Derby's squad is already the oldest in League One.
He will likely go after a younger striker rather than a veteran like Smith.
