Tyreece John-Jules returned from injury this week

Derby County have struggled to find a consistent goalscorer since the departure of David McGoldrick in the summer.

They brought in Martyn Waghorn who had a good start but has been quiet recently. They also brought in Conor Washington who hasn't been reliable all the time.

Neither strikers have had a massive impact, but Paul Warne may have finally found his goalscorer.

The Rams added Tyreece John-Jules in the summer on loan from Arsenal but he had only made two bench appearances in August before getting injured.

Since then, the youngster has been sidelined with a thigh injury and unable to contribute to the team.

However, he returned on Tuesday night by scoring a goal with his first touch of the game from a lovely assist from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.

It was during a fast-paced attack, something that Paul Warne has been crying out for all season long.

John-Jules is a very different striker compared to Derby's other options as he has a lot more speed and is able to get in behind the opposition in order to score.

Pairing him up with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing who has a lot of speed himself could provide the Rams with a dangerous attacking threat.

The 22 year-old has been proven at League One level too. He has had spells with Ipswich Town, Sheffield Wednesday and Doncaster and has also played for Blackpool when they were in the Championship.

Despite his success at League One level in the past, he's never had the chance to be a number one goalscorer for his team, something that could change now he's fit.

With limited options in terms of quality strikers, John-Jules could provide the Rams with a focal point going forward and come the end of the season, assuming Paul Warne decides to keep him past January, we could look back at his return as a crucial turning point for Derby's season.
