The events are a great way to support your local boozer, try new beers and of course treat your mates to a round (or two)

When Lonely Planet magazine said Derby was ‘the best place to drink real-ale in the world’ we nodded our heads and raised a pint in agreement.

According to WhatPub, there are over 1,100 pubs in Derbyshire, around 300 of which are in Derby.

This means even more reason to celebrate Derby’s amazing beer culture, and what better way to do that than at beer festivals across the city?

Some of the new summer beer festival dates coincide quite nicely with the Euros, which could be a real treat for sports fans watching their favourite team as they sink a pint of real ale.

Shiny Tap Beer Festival 2024

When? July 3 - 7

This tap room will have 12 real ales, 10 craft kegs and four real ciders.

The five-day festival will be open till 11pm every day.

Shiny Brewery is going all out on the football front, offering an aptly named Engurland Pale. The keg beer is from Neon Raptor Brewing Company with a 4.2% ABV which sounds like the perfect pint to enjoy whilst watching the Euros.

Derby CAMRA 50th Anniversary Beer Festival 2024

When? July 3 - 6

This event is a beer festival and birthday celebration all rolled into one. 

The festival will be spread across three pubs, all close to the railway station in Derby.

Derby CAMRA will have a stillage in the Brunswick and Victoria pubs, together featuring 35 beers.

A spokesperson from Brunswick said: ‘There are a minimum of 33 cask ales in the Brunswick alone, plus nine craft ales.’

The Alexandra Hotel will sell an extended range of beers including a one-off special. In addition all pubs will also sell their usual range of real ale, cider and perry including specials.

Where: Alexandra Hotel on Siddals Road, Brunswick Inn on Railway Terrace, Victoria Inn on Midland Place.

189 Allestree Beer Festival 2024

When? August 1- 4

Organisers inspired by warm weather decided to host a summer beer festival.

The four-day event will be held over the first weekend in August and will feature beers that have been brewed within 18.9 miles of the bar.

A finalised beer list of what is pouring, has not yet been released, however people can expect ‘at least 17 beers.’

Great Central Railway Beer, Cider, & Gin Festival 2024

When? September 20 - 22

This post from last year’s event gives beer fans a flavour of what to expect this year.

Organisers have promised an ‘amazing selection’ of real ales, ciders and gin.
