We visited Derby's Christmas Craft & Flea market and this is what we thought
Craft & Flea's 'eccentric' pop up market features the city's local produce and makers alongside food and flea market stalls.
It’s the season for Christmas markets and shoppers were out in force for the annual Craft & Flea event in Derby this weekend.
The well-attended event on Sunday, November 26, 2023 saw approximately 40 local exhibitors set up stalls at Derby Museum Art Gallery on The Wardwick. On sale were a variety of fabulous items including handmade illustrations, ceramics and jewellery, plus vintage Christmas decorations and preloved garments.
Shopping can be thirsty work and there were plenty of options available that involved scrumptious artisan food, steaming hot coffee, and more. If you wanted to rest your legs and have a sit-down, you could enjoy food from the pop-up bar set up towards the back.

Or if a fabulous food supplier caught your eye, you were welcome to leisurely peruse a cake stall and nibble on a pastry as you mooched and ate cake, for a next-level shopping experience. Sundays were made for chilling out and it is easy to see why this Craft & Flea event in Derby was so popular, judging by the steady stream of attendees who walked through the doors.
This Christmas market was organised by Craft & Flea and has been a popular fixture on the Derby events calendar for several years. It was held for the first time at The Wardwick after moving from the Museum of Making which is currently closed due to flood damage.
Craft & Flea say they aim to ‘put a spin on the makers market, bringing together talented, independent makers, designers, producers and collectors, each handpicked for their quality, on-trend products.’ On the day, exhibitors from or near Derbyshire were given a spotlight to shine and sell their beautiful items.
Midlands' sellers include Clapperboard Candles and The Bakehouse from Derby, Beautifully Rude from Nottingham, Roy's Handmade Wood Creations from Narborough, 4eyes Patisserie from Sheffield, Little Pricks Plants from Warwickshire, and Spoonful Of Sugar from Leicester.
