A festive market that aims to address social change is gearing up for a busy event in Derby this weekend.

Hide AdDerby Ethical Christmas Market is set to take place at The Chocolate Factory on Saturday, November 4. In addition to a massive list of 60 traders, there will also be a panel talking about modern-day slavery and how it affects consumers.
It is the event’s third year in Derby which has grown in popularity since launching in 2020. On the day people can expect to indulge in retail therapy and stay informed with educational talks.
Those who like interactive fun can get involved with workshops to get their creative juices flowing. A glazed ceramic workshop is where you can create your own beautiful pottery. If relaxation and mindfulness are more your speed, then you may enjoy an aroma workshop.

Hide AdA spokesperson from Derby Ethical Christmas Market said: “We want to give people an easy route to shopping in a way that really changes lives and transforms societies.
“We thought we would gather some incredibly innovative and ethical businesses and invite people to come and spend their hard-earned money where it will really make a difference.”
Over 400 people have already responded to the event which is one of the earliest Christmas markets in Derby to kick off the festive season.

Entry is £2 and is free for those under 18 years of age.

How many traders will be there?
There are over 60 traders who will be selling products on the market.
These include pre-loved fashion garments from Reworked348 and Raf & Grace, Fairtrade artisan chocolate from Chocolate Wrights, and eco-cleaning products from Harris & Rose.

Hide AdYes, food and drink can be purchased from Vegan Junkies, Chilli Kitchen, Vegan Bakes and Justice ice cream.
All that shopping is sure to make you hungry, and diners can keep their energy up by tucking into a range of hot and cold delights.
Looking at these caterers’ previous menu offerings, delicious dishes that could be served include hearty vegan paella, spicy lamb keema, cakes, pistachio ice cream and more.
