I'm a lucky local of bustling Derbyshire market town, it has everything I need including cosy pubs & top shops
Why I am a big fan of this chocolate box town boasting a bustling high street and winding cobbled streets
One of my favourite things to do in the whole world is visit Ashbourne.
There is much to love about this market town, that is quaint, beautiful and an amazing space to visit during the weekend for a day-trip from Derby.
Ashbourne is one of my favourite spaces to visit. Its many accolades include being named by Muddy Stilettos as one of the best places to live in Derbyshire.

Ashbourne is a place I hold dear to my heart and which I can’t get enough of.
I’m not too far away from Ashbourne, approximately 15 miles or a 35 minute drive away door to door from my house in Derby to Ashbourne centre.
It is easy to spend countless hours enjoying a mooch on the high street that is packed with independent businesses.
Here are my reasons why I feel lucky to have super easy access to this acclaimed Derbyshire town.
Top food, fashion, shopping in Ashbourne
From fashion boutiques to cheese and wine shops, there honestly is something for everyone in Ashbourne.
I hadn’t banked on getting everything I needed - from a Derbyshire market town - for an upcoming summer vacation that included a wedding.
I bought my entire Italy wardrobe from Chic, which is my go-to place for any outfit.
If you’re into ethical shopping, the numerous pre-loved and antique stores will be right up your street.
Ashbourne Antique Centre and Second Chance Dress Agency on Church Street, are my favourite places to scour vintage items.
I snapped up a Ralph Lauren nautical themed bag for a fraction of the original price, which is around 80% less than a similar bag found at a regular department store.
The two shops are also mere seconds away from each other and part of a bustling high street that includes fudge shops, cocktail bars, rustic pubs and more.
A recent addition to Ashbourne high street is Deli No. 7 at Howell and Marsden, housed in striking 19th century building on the town’s square.
From the timber-framed Gingerbread Shop to family-run independent businesses located in many of the original shops that are hundreds of years old, Ashbourne is a place that really knows how to embrace its rich history by blending it well with the 21st century.
