Ramathon, one of Derby’s top running events took place on Sunday June 30, 2024.
Organisers at Run For All say thousands of runners turned out to participate in the fundraiser.
Participants of all abilities crossed the finish line at the Derbion Ramathon, RAM 5 Mile and half marathon runs.
One of the main highlights of the city’s running calendar, crowds of spectators lined the streets to cheer on runners of all ages to the finish line.
The iconic backdrop of Derby Cathedral provided a perfect location for the start and finish.
Richard Whitehead MBE, two-time Paralympic Gold medallist and motivational speaker crossed the finish line of the Derbion Ramathon. Whitehead smashed his previous half-marathon world record set in 2010 at the Reading Half Marathon, taking twenty one seconds off his previous time.
After completing the Ramathon, Richard said: “Fantastic event today in Derby with great support. Very friendly atmosphere and environment to ensure everyone is motivated to do their best.

“I smashed my own leg amputee half-marathon world record today, crossing the finish line in a time of 01:14:38 so I'm super pleased. I'd also like to thank the race organisers for their hospitality.”
While charity fundraising was at the heart of today, there were also elite races involving some of the region’s leading athletes in both distances.
