We visited Derby’s cosy new coffee shop and it delivered all the autumn vibes

Hunker down in squishy chairs whilst cradling a steaming hot latte. There is also a food menu that includes homemade cakes, paninis and more.

A warm and cosy coffee shop that feels like home is the perfect antidote to dipping temperatures and chilly days.

Nixon Coffee is one of Derby’s newest arrivals in the city.

Based at the site of a former jeans store, the heritage-rich building makes an attractive venue for a café.

Honey-coloured lighting, squishy seats and a bookshelf stocked with insightful authors’ books including Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thích Nhất Hạnh, provide the backdrop of comfort and zen.

Owner Jai Sandhu, from Littleover, Derby has overseen every aspect of his new café, from sourcing artisan coffee from local roasters, to the beautiful aesthetic that makes you never want to leave.

The coffee shop is already a hit with locals who are a diverse crowd, from students bashing out an essay on their laptops, to local professionals grabbing a sandwich for a working lunch.

We visited Nixon Coffee shop on a cold afternoon and took a closer look inside.

Address: 1-7 Abbey Street, Derby DE22 3SJ
