Benedict Cooper is a Nottingham-based freelance journalist, photographer and copywriter. He has written news and features for national and local newspapers, consumer magazines, trade journals and online. His writing has covered a range of topics including business, politics, social issues, travel, and literature. Benedict studied for a Masters in journalism at Nottingham Trent University before taking his first job at a major publishing company in London, as a reporter on a weekly trade magazine. From there he worked in PR, and then went freelance as a journalist. Over the past 13 years freelancing he has written for many of the UK nationals and various local newspapers, as well as a number of consumer titles, B2B magazines, and online publications. Benedict has written up several foreign adventures as a freelance travel writer, including a trip-of-a-lifetime 10,000 mile train journey from Nottingham to Vietnam - via Siberia - in 2012. He has also done lots of writing about Nottingham and, as an avid photographer, has taken thousands of photos of the city and the county. He has personal interests in history, politics, cinema and literature. Benedict is also a local NUJ officer and trustee of the official Orwell Society, acting as the organisation’s publicity officer.
