Wendy’s Derby is gearing up for a big launch this weekend and Derby World was invited to have an exclusive sneak peek inside.
The American brand will take up residence at College Retail Park five minutes’ walk from Derby city centre. Its Normanton Road location is already bustling, with several big brand names opening this year alone which includes Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks.
Despite not being open to the public yet, numerous eager people were spotted peering through the large windows of the newest burger joint in town. Luckily Derby World has the inside scoop and were excited to pop along to check out the interiors and try food from the menu.
We tried the Spicy Chicken burger which was a subtly spiced fillet that packed a peppery punch, sandwiched in a pillowy bread bun. Chicken nuggets are lightly breaded and come in two variations of regular and spicy, which is a nice touch for spice seekers craving a hit.
The Baconator Fries came drizzled in a warm cheese sauce and were topped with Applewood smoked bacon. This was a clear winner and we really enjoyed munching our way through crispy bacon shards.
If you don’t know whether you’re in the mood for dessert then Wendy’s Frosty is one for you. It is technically a milkshake that comes in two flavours: chocolate or vanilla, but it is so luxuriously thick that it can easily be enjoyed with a spoon.
The burger restaurant will open their doors to the public on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 7am. The new Wendy’s offers customers the opportunity to dine in, take away and for convenience drive thru too.
There is a bonus treat for early risers. If you’re one of the first 50 customers through the doors, you will have the chance to get your hands on a fabulous t-shirt.
