Get free cocktails by swapping your scarf and winter woolies at Derby Revolución de Cuba

As Derby prepares for heavy snowfall in the coming days, never has there been a better time to hunker down and get warm. Unfortunately for people living on the streets that isn't always an option, and so a Derby bar has a proposition - and it needs your help.
Revolución de Cuba on The Strand in Derby is asking people to bring along winter accessories such as scarves and gloves to the bar and swap them for free cocktails during January.

It is more than just feeling warm with some rum inside you - people can also get the warm and fuzzy feeling of making a difference by helping the most vulnerable in society.
Getting rid of extra scarves, hats, and gloves is also a great way to declutter your home and get rid of any unwanted gifts from last Christmas.
All contributions will be passed on to Revolución de Cuba’s local charity partners that support homeless and vulnerable people around each of its 15 UK venues.

Alex McMillan, Brand Operations Director at Revolución de Cuba, said: “As temperatures are forecast to drop and snow to fall, we hope that From Cuba with GLove will make a positive impact on those who live in the communities around our venues, whilst shining a spotlight on Cuban kindness.
"The Cuban people are known for their affection, gentleness and humanity and they’re sentiments that we share here at Revolución de Cuba. The New Year is an excellent time to declutter and clear out.
“It sets us up for 2024 whilst making a real difference to those who need our support, especially as an icy blast prepares to hit the UK.

“Even better, it’s made using Banana Peel Rum from Discarded Spirit, a brand that creates spirits from waste food.
“It’s made from discarded banana skins sourced from a food flavouring manufacturer using a Caribbean rum base. So, we’re helping to reverse needless food waste too.
“We encourage those who donate to find out more about them, and to also nominate their own worthy causes to receive donations from us.”
