We tried Costa Coffee's new Kit Kat hot chocolate and it's one of the best drinks we've ever had

Grey skies and afternoons filled with rain make it feel as if spring has definitely not sprung yet.
It is still chilly out there, which means that although it is officially spring, it is also hot chocolate weather (this bit, we don't mind).

Hide AdWe visited Costa Coffee to try out its new KitKat drink and cake range.
The coffee shop has taken a bar of beloved chocolate - KitKat is also one of the oldest bars in the world - and placed the traditionally four-finger chocolate wafer treat at the centre of its latest offerings.
The Costa Coffee KitKat range consists of:
hot chocolate
mocha
frappé
chocolate muffin
We visited St Peters Street branch, which is one of Derby’s bustling Costa Coffee shops.
I took refuge from the rain on a cold Wednesday afternoon and was looking forward to a hot drink heating up my insides.

What I thought about Costa Coffee KitKat Hot Chocolate
The drink itself had toasted chocolate notes which were taken to the next level by the addition of a wafer flavoured syrup.
I know flavoured syrups are all the rage, but I don’t think I have ever had one tasting of wafer.
KitKat shards lay crumbled on a peak of Light Whip, which is a plant-based
cream-like topping.

Hide AdA mini KitKat Easter Bunny chocolate brought the whole drink together to create a moreish package.
If you’re a keen dunker, you may enjoy dunking the Easter Bunny chocolate into the cream to enjoy in all its creamy, chocolatey glory.

KitKat Chocolate Muffin is a great addition to the range.
It was moist and squidgy, yet light and not cloying on the palate like some chocolate cakes can be.
I was initially expecting the whole sponge to be flavoured with KitKat, but discovered that the muffin had a KitKat flavoured centre, which felt like the melting middle of a mini chocolate fondant.
