‘Dreamy Costa Coffee’s new Italian dessert inspired Tiramisu Iced Whipped Latte is my drink of the summer’

Dragon fruit and guava refreshers felt almost too pretty to disturb, but we dove in and didn’t look back

The sun making a most welcome appearance means a change in eating and drinking habits. Out go the cosy hot chocolates, in come the fruity refreshers, a summer trend that is seen on Costa Coffee’s new menu.

The new season menu offers frappés, fruity sips and more.

My thoughts on Costa Coffee’s new Tiramisu Iced Whipped Latte

New this year is Tiramisu Iced Whipped Latte.

Inspired by the classic dessert, the latte blends coffee with a rich tiramisu-inspired sauce. It comes topped with Light Whip and cocoa dusting.

I found this drink like a fancy dessert in a cup, it really felt like an indulgent treat.

The fancy frills of cream accentuated by the cocoa powder gave a pudding feel, and the cream was the first thing I scooped up and ate.

Speaking to the knowledgeable Karl behind the counter, he said it was reminiscent of a Tia Maria.

So, for those who want a grown-up drink minus the alcohol, Costa Coffee’s Tiramisu Iced Whipped Latte could well be your drink for the summer.

There’s also a new range of refreshers which are bright and bursting with bold flavours.

Dragon fruit is not something I see on menus, or in the supermarket, which got me curious how it would translate in an iced drink.

I tried Dragon fruit and guava refresher which was the side of tart with a slightly floral aftertaste.

Costa Coffee's Dragon fruit and guava refresher had a bold flavour profile. I especially enjoyed nibbling on the chunks of dragon fruit in the drink. This is quite possibly one of Costa's prettiest drinks on the menu.placeholder image

I was keen to try the Vanilla Lavender Iced Whipped Latte. I have tried the salted caramel version which I really enjoyed on my last trip to Costa.

The vanilla lavender combination seems to be a hit, because the St Peters Street branch in Derby had run out of this drink base.

There is a range of new food on the summer menu too including Gluten Free Mozzarella & Pesto Toastie with Roasted Pepper Sauce.

Making a welcome return on the summer menu is Chicken Shawarma Flatbread which I also tried.

I enjoyed shawarma chicken which came loaded with sweet chilli sauce and drizzle of garlic spiked. The flatbread’s harissa-spice also hummed nicely in the background.

Overall I found the summer range to be fresh and perfect for summer.

I also have the Strawberry, Watermelon and Mint Refresher on my list to try - maybe that can wait for the next heatwave in Derby?

Costa Coffee's Global Food and Beverage Innovation Director, Nishant Bhatia, said “Whether you’re enjoying a Tiramisu Frappé on a sunny afternoon, or sipping on a Refresher with friends in the park, our new menu offers perfectly chilled drinks to complement every Summer moment.
