New Nando’s opens at busy Meteor Retail Park Derby with al fresco area perfect for dining in the sun

A new Nando’s restaurant has opened in Derby and the timing could not be better.

With the mercury set to hit 26° later this week, people can bask in sunshine and tuck into Peri-Peri goodness in the al fresco dining area at Meteor Retail Park.

Nando’s Meteor Retail Park soft-launched earlier this week, giving select diners the chance to taste-test the menu and put staff through paces.

Nando’s will be firing up the grills to fully open on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

Favourite dishes on the menu include the recently launched Extra Saucy Wings, Chickle Burger, Cheesy Garlic Pitta, the limited-edition Nando’s x Fanta spice, and plenty of PERi-PERi to keep things extra saucy too.

The restaurant also has a frozen cocktail machine and Sagres beer on draught.

The new restaurant seats 112 inside and 28 outside.

For those who like to enjoy drinks in the sun over the upcoming bank holiday weekend, the frozen cocktail machine and Sagres beer on draught may appeal even more.

Flavour fans will also be able to order delivery and Click & Collect to enjoy their Nando’s at home.

To deliver the Nando’s experience and South African - Portuguese Peri-Peri themed flavour explosion to its new customers in Derby, Nando’s has created 50 jobs.

The restaurant has also partnered with local charity Betel Derby.

The charity helps people and families facing social exclusion including homelessness, drug and alcohol abuse and long-term unemployment.

Nando’s says it has already fitted a new floor at one of Betel’s locations, and the Derby Meteor restaurant team will be supporting the charity with its projects on an ongoing basis.

Nando’s champions its Southern African heritage by continually working with South African based designers across all aspects of its restaurants.

At Nando’s Derby Meteor this includes ceiling installations including intricate beading, geometric fabrics and striking Southern African artwork on the walls.

Restaurant manager, Nicole Williams said: “We’re delighted to be opening the doors to our brand-new Derby restaurant!

“We can’t wait to welcome customers to enjoy our famous PERi-PERi and good vibes at our newest location in Derby.”

The restaurant will be open from Wednesday, 30 April 2025.

Opening hours will be 11.30am till 10pm seven days a week.
