Snow forecast Derbyshire: The exact time snow will fall in Derbyshire on Saturday night

Derbyshire is braced for snowfall tomorrow (Saturday, January 4, 2024) after plummeting temperatures saw overnight lows earlier this week of -1°C.

Saturday will start with sunny intervals until 2pm, with temperatures hovering around the 3°C mark.

A cloudy afternoon will follow which will become overcast at around 7pm.

When will snow fall in Derby?

According to Met Office, light snow is expected at 9pm on Saturday, January, 4.

Heavy snow is set to fall from 10pm on Saturday night, through till 3am on Sunday morning.

On Sunday at 6am, a mixture of snow and rain means sleet is to be expected in Derby.

The outlook for Sunday is chilly and wintry with temperatures hitting 1°C in the afternoon and claiming back up to 4°C on Sunday night.

Amber warnings are currently in place for Derby and the wider East Midlands.

People can expect snow and ice across the East Midlands over the coming days, while the UK Health Security Agency has also issued an amber Cold-Health Alert.

As well as snow, a period of freezing rain is also likely bringing some hazardous travel conditions, before milder air follows across all areas by Sunday morning.

Whilst there is some uncertainty in details, 3-7 cm of snow is likely for much of the warning area.

Freezing rain could lead to ice accretion in places before the milder air leads to a rapid thaw of snow and ice in the south of the warning area through Sunday.
